It was almost as if Ignite never lost their spark. The Orange County hardcore quintet, who paid their dues in the ’90s before breaking through in 2000, returned to the Roxy Theatre on Friday night in celebration of “A War Against You,” their first album in almost decade. Highlighted by the single “Nothing Can Stop Me,” the lineup of vocalist Zoli Teglas, guitarists Brian Balchack and Kevin Kilkenny, bassist Brett Rasmussen and drummer Craig Anderson, tore through a big chunk of the new album and some old favorites. The new album hit No. 1 on the iTunes charts over the weekend.
Their set was preceded by an equally muscular performance from Death by Stereo, who besides inciting some ferocious mosh pits took time out to mock Emo Night. the iron son – new project of former bleeding through frontman Brandan Schieppati, was their first show. Punk quartet True Rivals and The Iron Son — the new project from former Bleeding Through through frontman Brandan Schieppati, opened the night.
