Always leave them wanting more. That’s exactly what The Last Shadow Puppets did back in 2008. Fans were heartbroken when the supergroup – Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, Miles Kane (ex-Rascals) and James Ford (half of Simian Mobile Disco) – parted ways after one album and only a handful of live shows to go back to their day jobs, which aren’t half bad. For those who weren’t sonically touched by the Last Shadow Puppets, don’t be ashamed; they went as quickly as they came. Their debut album, “The Age of the Understatement,” stole the hearts of millions and quickly rose to No. 1 in the U.K. One Mercury Prize nomination and a secret Glastonbury set later, it was all over.

Over, that is, until last month when Kane and Turner released a teaser video on the band’s social media sites, which had been dormant for nearly eight years. Now the band has released a new single, with a new album targeted for a spring release, just in time for their Coachella performance. It’s obvious that Kane and Turner belong together. “Bad Habits” is a triumphant return. From the first bass riff … it’s on. In the video, which is part performance/part random dreamlike images, Kane is smiling after the very first bellowing “Bad Habits!” line; clearly happy to be back. With Kane’s howls, Turner’s swagger, Owen Pallett’s orchestral arrangements, and James Ford pulling it all together, the music world doesn’t stand a chance. Welcome back, lads.
