It was a night for the ageless Saturday at the Echoplex — not just the headliners themselves, the Muffs, who this year mark a quarter-century as a band. The trio’s sharp pop-punk seems immune to the rot of time too. How else to explain a performance that played so well across the crowd’s broad demographic? Or that over half the set delivered by Kim Shattuck, Ronnie Barnett and Roy McDonald came from albums that were more than two decades old? It was true — they played seven songs from their first two albums, 1993’s self-titled debut and 1995’s “Blonde and Blonder.” There was just a taste of their comeback album, “Whoop Dee Doo,” which came out in 2014 on Burger Records after a 10-year hiatus. Kids these days.
