Is it possible to grow up without sounding aged? Of course, and look no further than appropriately named Fullerton garage-rockers Audacity for proof. On April 1, the quartet will release its appropriately titled fourth full-length “Hyper Vessels.” And if ever there were vessels of hyperactivity, it’s the foursome of Kyle Gibson, Matt Schmalfeld, Cameron Crowe and Thomas Alvarez. The scuzzed-up power-pop on “Hyper Vessels” was produced by another caffeinated character, Ty Segall, and, says Gibson, does reflect a more mature approach, especially if you mind the subject matter. “Our first two albums were made during our ‘young band’ phase,” he says. “Being a band of teenagers was our identity. (2013’s) ‘Butter Knife’ and ‘Hyper Vessels’ were our process of finding who we are now as a band of young adults. … I think all our albums — and all my favorite albums and works of art in general — have been a mixture of high-brow intellectual moments and silliness.” Submitted for your approval: the brain-rattling “Dirty Boy.” The album will be out via Suicide Sueeze Records.
