The second Air + Style Festival to soar into Los Angeles landed in a big way over the the weekend, with a crowd estimated by promoters at 44,000 witnessing music from the likes of J. Cole, Incubus, HAIM, Kaskade, Action Bronson, Rudimental and A-Trak, along with a snowboarding competition on a 16-story-high ramp. The greatest hit of the weekend was something called a “Frontside Triple Cork 1440 Mute” — landed by snowboarding champ Yuki Kadono of Japan. Beyond the music on two stages and some spectacular visuals (see Kaskade and A-Trak), attendees had plenty of sponsors’ activities to explore, even a snowboarding camp.
Air + Style made its Southern California debut last February on a rain-plagued weekend at the Rose Bowl. But the weather cooperated this year. Air + Style originated in Innsbruck, Austria in 1993 and his since been staged in China as well.
