Psych-rockers Vinyl Williams, shoegaze trio Tennis System and synth-pop quartet DWNTWN are among the approximately 50 musical acts announced today to perform at the BROKE LA, the festival formerly known as Brokechella, which for its sixth year gets a new location as well as a new name.
The one-day event, with four music stages and another devoted to comedy (plus art installations and vendors), will be held at downtown’s Imperial Arts Studios at 695 S. Santa Fe Ave.
Tickets are $20 and available here.
The outdoor stage also features Kid Bloom, Alina Bea, the Fontaines, Valley Queen, Yasso, Ice Cream and Street Fever. String Theory, a large-scale performance installation, will perform on the indoor stage along with Wolf Prize, Annuals, the Fuzzy Crystals, Air Life and Disco Shrine.
Also returning this year will be cutting-edge electronica on the Shifty Rhythms stage and a host of hip-hop/R&B artists on the stage hosted by party starters Brownies and Lemonade.
Brokechella began in 2011 as a DIY affair and an affordable alternative to that big thing in the desert.
