Maybe there’s a joke to be made in the fact that the new album from Diarrhea Planet will be released by Dine Alone Records? Who knows, but if you’ve seen the Nashville six-piece live you know better than to write them off for their silly scatalogical name. The band — guitarists Jordan Smith, Brent Toler and Emmett Miller with bassist Mike Boyle, drummer Ian Bush and multi-instrumentalist Evan Bird — are guitar monsters and their music power-pop turned up to 11. The new album is titled “Turn to Gold,” recorded with engineer Vance Powell and due June 10, and the latest single “Let It Out” is a classic rocker that for all its conciseness still shows off their knack for ear-tickling guitar work.
