Saturday’s Los Angeles concerts:
► Day 2 of Coachella continues the madness with three-fifths Guns N’ Roses “reunited,” Ice Cube, U.K. electronica with Disclosure, electro house with Zedd, bold fresh hip-hop with A$AP Rocky, dreamy electro indie from Glasgow’s CHVRCHES, electropop from Halsey, U.K. singer James Bay and much more, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. What is the over/under on Axl actually taking the stage at the scheduled set time of 10:30?
► An A-list duo at the Troubadour with the sultry and soulful Cat Power alongside rock’s second most-famous Dylan, Jakob.
► A great night of world music at the Roxy Theatre with the Congo’s Mbongwana Star putting on a thrilling, must see show. Opening is Dexter Story’s L.A. project Wondem, which dabbles in various Afropop stylings.
► Don’t lie, you know you want to smoke some dirtweed in the parking lot and then sneak a flask into Iron Maiden at the Forum.
► Seven time Grammy winner Pepe Aguilar brings his ranchera and mariachi stylings to the Greek Theatre.
► Put on your best pair of Vans and head out to see NOFX at the Belasco Theater.
► Always a multicultural funkfest, Ozomatli throws a party the Canyon.
► The Echo hosts a night of southern gothic from Chapel Hill’s Mount Moriah, along with Brooklyn singer-songwriter Margaret Glaspy.
► Also in the desert, it’s a Rancho De La Luna party with Mojave Lords, Fatso Jetson, Chris Goss, Alain Johannes, Jesse Hughes’ Boots Electric and more at Pappy & Harriet’s.
► Pygmy Love Circus and Tool alumni comprise the moving parts of Volto!, who headline the Viper Room with Socionic, Sisters of the Black Moon and Zenith in support.
