During their performance Saturday at Weekend 1 of Coachella, the Arcs sprang a nice surprise on fans in the Mojave Tent when Dan Auerbach and crew were joined by Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh and 78-year-old ex-James Gang axeman Glenn Schwartz for a session of classic shredding. On Tuesday night at the Fonda Theatre, the Arcs had something else up their sleeves — David Hidalgo of Los Lobos joined the band for the encore to guest on “Cold Companion.” The night of soulful, old-school guitar rock was played out in front of a set designed to suggest a psychedelic luau. Mariachi Flor de Toloache, the Latin Grammy-nominated all-female mariachi band opened the night and quickly won over the crowd.
