The South Lake district in Pasadena will be scene of a free concert series every Friday evening in May. Sounds on South Lake will feature two sets per night from artists playing a wide range of genres, including Americana, world, folk, indie rock and Latin. Shows begin at 5 p.m., and the series is family- and pet-friendly.

May 6 at 455 S. Lake Ave (next to Paul Martin’s American Grill)
► Indie-folk singer-songwriter Kyle Britton, Americana rock singer Laura Jean Anderson.
May 13 at 345 S. Lake Ave (next to Corner Bakery Café)
► Eight-piece jazz-soul combo the Nick Valentini Collective, Latin-flavored Salt Petal.
May 20 at 345 S. Lake Ave (next to Corner Bakery Café)
► Two sets of psychedelic-soul rock from Santa Barbara’s Givers & Takers.
May 27 at the Corporate Center Pasadena (251 S. Lake Ave.)
► A double shot of Latin pop from singer-songwriter Meli Malavasi.
