For fans of a certain age, Friday night’s Rooney show at the Teragram Ballroom was all about teenage feels. The band — Robert Schwartzman with a new backing backing lineup — were reliable purveyors of youthful power-pop sunshine last decade, when they toured with the like of Weezer and the Strokes and appeared on “The O.C.”

The sold-out crowd Friday was eager to see if their adolescent heartthrob would return a conquering hero, 11 years since Rooney’s biggest single and six since the band’s last album.

Schwartzman and gang delivered, giving a celebratory album release show for “Washed Out” on the L.A. stop on their “Welcome Home Tour.” The frontman graciously thanked the crowd as he led the group through new songs such as “My Heart Beats 4 U,” “All the Beautiful People” and “Why,” On the latter, Rooney were joined by Jessica Dobson of Deep Sea Diver, who preceded the headliners with a set culled mostly from their masterful new release “Secrets.”

London’s Wild Wild Horses opened the night with songs from their EP “Ordinary Life,” along with covers of the Weeknd’s “Earned It” and Jessie Ware’s “Wildest Moments.”
