Fans embraced a different side of synth-pop diva Lights — Canadian singer Valerie Anne Poxleitner — during her two sold-out shows at the El Rey Theatre. The shows were part of the “Midnight Machines” tour, supporting her new record that features six acoustic renditions of her hits and two new songs. Thursday’s show came on the four-year anniversary of Poxleitner’s marriage to Beau Bokan, and backed by strings and percussion, she performed “Meteorites,” “Running With the Boys, “February Air,” “Toes,” “Banner” and, during the encore, “Muscle Memory,” among others. With the stories she told backgrounding the songs, it made for a mellow night. New York’s LOLO opened the show.
