An evil corporation and a gang of avengers led by a zombie hunk do battle in the Lord Huron’s video for “World Ender,” one of Wilder-Wild-West tales spun with twangy goodness on the Los Angeles band’s “Strange Trails.” Like its predecessor, 2012’s “Lonesome Dreams,” the 2015 album is a collection of often-dark narratives with cinematic characters, brought to life in this new video by director Ariel Vida. This film stars Stevin Espinoza as Cobb Avery, aka The World Ender, who wreaks havoc on the Winthrop Corp., its minions and, eventually, its principal himself. For context’s sake, it helps to get familiar with the “Strange Trails” comic book that accompanies the album. The horror genre-inspired book is the work of Lord Huron founder and art-schooler Ben Schneider, his sister Caitlin and her boyfriend Tony Wilson. Their multimedia storytelling also includes phone numbers readers/listeners can call to explore further. In this 4 1/2 minutes, though, Avery’s vengeance is swift, and vivid.
