L.A.-bred Stars At Night have been rocking together since 2010, when the foursome released an album titled “The Beginning.” For a band that rocks this loud, it’s surprising they’ve only just appeared on our radar, with a new self-titled, self-released album dropping May 20. Citing influences from Black Sabbath and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, keyboardist-singer Irene Quiles, drummer Joana Rubio, bassist Elizabeth Banuelos and guitarist Seleste Diaz like to turn the dial up to 11, unleashing a fury of relentless, sharp-clawed rock. “My Way” is the second single off “Stars At Night,” following “Searching.”

Says Quiles: “‘My Way’ speaks of a lost soul; a person on the verge of destruction if an impactful change isn’t made in their lives. It’s when you’re metaphorically on the edge of a cliff and have to decide whether you’re going to jump or turn back and open your eyes to what needs to be done to enrich and better your life.  Sometimes we dwell on horrible things that have happened to us in the past, we dwell on the things that didn’t quite go our way and we get stuck in a black hole with our eyes sealed shut. That’s when we have to make a decision whether we’re going to push through, open our eyes, move forward and stop blaming the world for our fears and pain or just stay trapped.”

In the video, we see the women working as baristas at Chango, frustrated by rude customers and mundane day jobs instead of pursuing their rock ’n’ roll dreams full-force. Director Polaris Castillo says, “This video is about rebellion. It’s easy to fall into the world of workaholism and become a zombie without a voice. This is especially dangerous to the soul. This video is about finally withdrawing and turning the tables around to find self expression.”
