Singer/multi-instrumentalist/producer Brian Young debuted his project the Fashion Focus last August with the full-length “The World Outside,” establishing his command of the ’80s underground sounds of post-punk and shoegaze. The Fashion Focus returns this week with substantially more menace: The new single “Ghosts” (out Friday via Academy of Sound / Manimal Label Group) delves into goth/industrial territory, as over a sledgehammer bass line and billowing synths Young chants “Your voice is calling me into eternity.” If his focus is indeed fashion, the primary color is black; if you want to be pummeled toward some sort of catharsis, you’ve come to the right place.
