On “100k,” California rapper Antwon rhymes about how much money he wants to make this summer over a song created with Lars Stalfors, whose production credits include HEALTH, Chelsea Wolfe, Le Butcherettes, and Deap Vally, as well as all the beats on Antwon’s new EP through Anticon, “Double Ecstasy.” Working with atypical producers is something Antwon relishes, bringing a fresh palette to the hip-hop landscape. In the Jack Wagner-directed video, Antwon leads his own machine-gun toting cult to a cough syrup/Kool Aid-fueled ascension at a sunny mansion. Says Wagner, “I look at Antwon as kind of a cult figure in the rap world. He has his own very specific niche and following that exists kind of outside of the mainstream and stands out.” Matching a casual delivery and often-dirty lyrics with rock and industrial tinged sounds in his beat spectrum, Antwon continues building excitement for his forthcoming full-length, due sometime in 2016.
