Alt-rock warriors the Temper Trap returned to L.A. this week, headlining the Fonda Theatre on Monday in advance of Friday’s release of their third album (and first in four years), “Thick As Thieves.” The Australian quartet has released three singles in advance of the album’s release and played the title track and “Summer’s Almost Gone” on Monday. The crowd roared as singer-guitarist Dougy Mandagi belted out his soaring vocals to “Alive,” clapping along to the groove laid down by drummer Toby Dundas and bassist Jonathon Aherne. Keyboardist Joseph Greer played guitar for most of the night, filling the void left by the 2013 departure of lead guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto. Mandagi brought out his own mini drum set helping out on percussion during “Drum Song”. They closed out the show with their hit song “Sweet Disposition.”
NYC-based rockers Walking Shapes warmed up the crowd with catchy tunes like “In The Wake.”
