The San Gabriel Valley will dive into the festival fray on Sept. 10 when MainFest makes its debut in downtown Alhambra. Top-liners at the first MainFest will be Capital Cities, Miami Horror and !!! (Chk Chk Chk).

The event will feature a beer garden, vendors, food trucks and more bands to be announced — keep on eye on their under-construction website.

Tickets, though, have already gone on sale; they’re $25 if you use the promo code “SAFEANDSOUND.” (That’s the title of Capital Cities’ big hit, originally released in 2011, but you knew that.) (Which reminds us, they’re due for a new album.)

Anyway, if you’re not familiar with your San Gabriel Valley geography, Alhambra is about 8 miles east of downtown L.A. Hillary Clinton’s late mother grew up there, as did novelist Clive Cussler, Dallas Cowboys president Tex Schramm and hitmaker Kenny Loggins. We’re here to help.
