Day Wave, the indie-rock project steered by singer-guitarist Jackson Phillips, played to a sold-out room Friday night at the Echo, emptying his song catalog (he had made two EPs, including March’s “Hard to Read”) to a young, adoring crowd. It was the penultimate show on the quartet’s massive 2 1/2-month tour, which found them hitting Australia, Europe and North America. Day Wave will be back in L.A. on July 21, opening for the Psychedelic Furs at the Twilight Concerts series at the Santa Monica Pier. Nico Yaryan, whose full-length debut “What a Tease” came out two weeks ago, and Clean Spill opened the night.
