After a one-year hiatus, the Eagle Rock Music Festival will return on Saturday, Aug. 20. On the festival’s website, a “save-the-date” flyer went up today.

** The official announcement came this evening, with news that the “band, artist, volunteer and sponsor applications” are now open.

When last year’s event was postponed (and originally rescheduled for the spring), organizers said they sought “an opportunity to present fresh take on ERMF and work collaboratively with the artists, residents and business owners who make up our unique neighborhoods.” The growth of the festival, which in the past commandeered Colorado Boulevard for a day, had caused concern in the northeast L.A. neighborhood.

The date comes on one of the busiest concert Saturdays of the summer, in the middle of the weekend of Echo Park Rising and opposite the free concerts at Chinatown Summer Nights and the Pershing Square Summer Concert Series (among others).

The performers at the last ERMF, in October 2014, included Aloe Blacc, Maya Jupiter, Quetzal, Mia Doi Todd, Taylor McFerrin, J. Rocc, Exile, SoSuperSam, Myron & E, Nedelle Torrisi and White Magic.
