Courtney Barnett plays the titular character in the video for her song “Elevator Operator,” and it’s a wild ride. The video, directed by Sunny Leunig (son of legendary Australian cartoonist Michael Leunig, who himself has a cameo), features a catch’em-if-you-can cast of luminaries, including (but not limited to) Sleater-Kinney, father and son Tweedy, members of Australian bands the Drones, Midnight Juggernauts, Batpiss, Loose Tooth, Ouch My Face, East Brunswick All Girls Choir, White Vans, the Finks and Camp Cope, and even a blogger or two. (Full list in the credits here.) The elevator stops in interesting places, and it’s all done in Barnett’s typically cheeky style. Not surprisingly, she reaches the top.
