The opener of the 10-week Twilight Concerts series at the Santa Monica Pier drew a monstrous crowd  Thursday night, and Mayer Hawthorne delivered with a feel-good set of pop and soul. Many later arrivals wouldn’t even make it in, as the event reached capacity. Alina Baraz opened the night.
