Stream: Sex Stains, ‘Don’t Hate Me Cuz I’m Beautiful’

Last summer, we had the pleasure of revealing a track from Sex Stains, when the album existed merely as a CD-R with a doodle scribbled on it. One year later, “Sex Stains” has found an official home with Don Giovanni Records, who will release this collection of fun, rambunctious tunes full of attitude on Sept. 2. Sex Stains is a party of five: Allison Wolfe, cult figure in the riot grrrl movement and once of the band Bratmobile, and dancer-choreographer Mecca Vazie Andrews share vocal duties; Sharif Dumani wields the guitar; David Orlando (best known around town for his weekly parties, Dub Club and Punky Reggae) plays drums; and Pachy Garcia (of Prettiest Eyes) plays bass. Drawing most of their influence from ’80s post-punk, Sex Stains are a high-octane band, attacking their subject matter with a sense of humor and saucy attitude. “Don’t Hate Me ‘Cuz I’m Beautiful” is a short, sweet, punch in the nuts.
