Eighties London post-punk rockers The Psychedelic Furs brought their refined nostalgia to the Santa Monica Pier on Thursday night, headlining the third week of the Twilight Concerts series. After a long hiatus in the ’90s the band reformed in 2000 and haven’t missed a beat since. Founding brothers Richard and Tim Butler both strutted the stage with enthusiasm for their older tracks and their ardent fans. Along with the rest of the band, saxophonist Mars Williams, keyboardist Amanda Kramer, guitarist Rich Good and drummer Paul Garisto, they performed a 14-song set from across their catalog and closed the night with the popular 35-yera-old hit “Pretty In Pink,” from their sophomore album “Talk Talk Talk.” The Psychedelic Furs were preceded by Oakland indie-rockers Day Wave. The free shows continue next Thursday with Protoje & The Indiggnation and Raging Fyah.
