“The Monolith of Phobos,” the album from the Les Claypool/Sean Lennon collaboration the Claypool Lennon Delirium, is named for one of Mars’ moons. Their set Friday night at the Fonda Theatre was at least that far out there — an epic tour de space rock that included material from their own album and covers of Pink Floyd’s “Astronomy Domine,” the Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows” and King Crimson’s “In the Court of the Crimson King.” The project was hatched after Claypool’s Primus and Lennon’s Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger toured together, and both Claypool’s bass skills and Lennon’s guitar prowess were on full display as they fronted a four-piece that included Money Mark and Paul Baldi.

L.A. psych-rockers JJUUJJUU opened the show.
