Singer-songwriter-producer Bilal will headline the fifth annual Power Fest in South L.A. on Saturday, Sept. 3.
Presented by the nonprofit Community Coalition, the event goes off from noon to 8 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Park (3916 S. Western Ave.). The lineup also boasts Patrick Paige II of The Internet, Top Dawg Entertainment’s Derek “MixedByAli” Ali, Jungle Fire, El-Haru Kuroi, Ras G and Mr. Choc.
Besides the entertainment, the festival is also heavy on activism and education. Launched as “a celebration of community empowerment,” says Community Coalition president Alberto Retana, the festival will feature voter registration and education booths, health care activities, art installations, food trucks and all manner of fun for kids.
It’s free and all-ages.
