Katie Burden’s debut album “Strange Moon” will be out Sept. 16, and as on her 2014 EP “My Blind Eye,” the Colorado native plays equal parts sorceress and pop singer. She delivers her swirling, woozy psych-rock noir as if possessed; if Burden’s moon is indeed strange, so are the tides that have broken down her propensity for being dispassionate. (She is a former journalism student, after all.) “I have a hard time feeling emotions sometimes,” she says. “Art makes me less afraid to feel and also less alone.” The lead single “I Can See It Clearly” meanders between bursts of riffage, disturbing imagery and fever-dream confessions. The inspiration, Burden told Noisey, where the song premiered, came from reading JT LeRoy’s novel “The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things,” and it was flushed out with drummer/producer Norm Block (whose Cautionary Tale Records is releasing the album) and Mike Semple.
