Alabama Shakes gave a truly stirring show Tuesday night at the Greek Theatre, with singer-guitarist Brittany Howard shredding in both ways as the quartet played songs from their two albums, 2012’s “Boys & Girls” and last year’s Grammy Award-winning “Sound & Color.” Howard was typically all business, holding forth in front of bandmates Heath Fogg, Steve Johnson and Zac Cockrell (along with backup singers and players), reaching a crescendo during the 20-song show just before the encore, with the Grammy-winning rocker “Don’t Wanna Fight.”
Dawes opened the show with a dose of their high-intensity folk-rock.
The bands reprise the show tonight at the Greek.
