Virtually anybody who’s a regular at Eastside/Central L.A. clubs will recognize Jennifer Perez (aka Jen Spazmaster) and Steve Delamater, best friends who are gold medal-winners in the mythical Scene Supporters Decathlon. Only sound engineers have seen more bands than this duo. Singer-bassist Spazmaster, who’s been active in college radio, as an independent show promoter and as an interpretative dancer, and guitarist Delamater decided to join the rock ’n’ roll fray over a year ago, and joined by drummer Tyler Kniep, Audiomammal was born. Working with producer/enginner Sean Guerin (De Lux), the power trio forges a sound reminiscent of raw, indie ’90s: Think Bikini Kill, the Breeders and the Pixies. The single “Poke,” the first from their forthcoming EP “Hush,” is an excellent exercise in that era’s head-banging — and speaking of heads, the gobsmacking video for the song features a montage of lot of them, banging, bopping, jamming and lip-synching. In all, there are about 60 friends, fans and fellow musicians featured in the video, which was directed by Dustin Muenchow, filmed by Brennan Barsell and edited by Ron Hill. Think of it as a musical photo booth, dated Summer of 2016.
