Only two things you needs to know about the Summer Crush pop-up show Saturday at L.A. Live: 1) Fans were crying (and some fainted, having to be helped by security) during the set by headliners 5 Seconds of Summer. 2) A flock of fans attending the Adele concert next door at Staples Center made their way to the arena’s outdoor patio so they could catch Fergie’s set from afar. Oh, and one more thing, we guess: DJ Saint Clair not only had some killer remixes but gave away quesadillas and cookies.
The show, sponsored by Pandora, brought out an enthusiastic group to see Australians 5SOS (Ashton Irwin, Calum Hood, Michael Clifford and Luke Hemmings), and Fergie made it a feel-good affair by having the crowd sing happy birthday to her son Axl, who was celebrating his third birthday.
To that song and others, everybody knew all the words.
Seventeen-year-old pop singer Daya opened the show.
