L.A. pop darlings Saint Motel last month announced details of a new album and tour. Now fans have their first taste of what’s to come with “Move,” the first single off “Saintmotelevision” (out Oct. 21). The song is the first bit of new music since the band’s “My Type” EP in 2014. “Move” has signature Saint Motel motifs dominating the song — bold horns, retro sound and a groove that makes it impossible for anything with ears to sit still. They also manage to incorporate a children’s song in the breakdown … only Saint Motel.
They’ve also kept their theatrical flair for visuals. The 360 “virtualizer” is oh-so-’70s, with a lit-up dance floor, black-and-white TV with the band performing, lyrics in retro font and cartoon imagery straight from a classic ’70s television show. We’re still waiting for John Travolta to jump out in a white suit. Definitely scroll around to get the whole 360 experience and know that you will never hear “head, shoulders, knees and toes” the same way again.
