Sleigh Bells are set to release their fourth album, “Jessica Rabbit,” on its way Nov. 11 via the band’s newly minted label, Torn Clean. It’s been three years since Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss put out music. The duo spent some of that time figuring out where they wanted to push their sound. Bringing in the input of Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Fiona Apple) for five of the album’s tracks, and Andrew Dawson (Kanye West, Tyler the Creator) to mix the record, the result is a further development of the signature Sleigh Bells convergence of pop vocals and abrasive guitar riffs, with a bit of synth pad brought in for good measure, to explore some interesting drum sounds. “It’s Just Us Now” has fun with tempo changes between the verses and chorus, and that sort of experimentation with time signatures can be found throughout “Jessica Rabbit.” The video, directed by Miller himself, features screaming, grave dwelling, running, and Krauss crying mascara tears into the pool. Something ominous is afoot on this sunny summer day.
