► Psych-rockers Unknown Mortal Orchestra play the penultimate night of the Twilight Concerts series at the Santa Monica Pier, joined by Steady Holiday.
► Touring behind his new release “Coup de Grâce”, Ja Rule and R&B songbird Ashanti take on the Novo.
► The Teragram Ballroom hosts a welcome return of swing revivalists Squirrel Nut Zippers.
► The Orange County Parks free summer music series brings indie-poppers JR JR and bluesy Big Monsta to Bluff Park at Salt Creek Beach (33333 S. Pacific Coast Hwy., Dana Point).
► Andy Frasco & the U.N. does their rollicking funky blues thing, along with L.A.-via-New York quartet Braeves at the Bootleg Theater.
► Psychedelia from Night Beats, three-chord punk from C.G. Roxanne & the Nightmares, reverb-soaked fuzz with L.A. Witch, and Vanilla appear at the Echoplex.
► The Echo features a night of avant garde from Mars Volta alum Deantoni Parks and alt rapper Busdriver.
► The Main Squeeze‘s protofunk and blue-eyed soul from The Proof will turn the Troubadour into a sweaty dancehall.
