► Jeff Lynne’s ELO, joined by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, kicks off three straight nights music and fireworks at Bowl.
► Drake does his second show this week at Staples Center.
► PAPA does the second of three free Friday nights at the Bootleg Theater leading up to next week’s release of their new album “Kick at the Dust.” Maxim Ludwig and Green Gerry support.
► Sara Watkins, whose solo album “Young in All the Wrong Ways” came out earlier this summer, does a free night at Levitt Pavilion Pasadena.
► Holy Ghost and !!! (Chk Chk Chk) head up the party at the Regent Theater.
► Bilal performs two shows at the Mint.
► Rocker/activist Wayne Kramer stages his Rock Out 3 for Jail Guitar Doors (a nonprofit that uses music to help rehab prisoners) at the Ford Amphitheatre. Hosted by Bobcat Goldthwaite and Matt Pinfield, the event features guests including Gilby Clarke, Marshall Crenshaw, Jason Heath & the Greedy Souls, Keith Morris and more.
► Of Mice & Men hit the Roxy Theatre in support of their new album “Cold World,” with Night Verses opening.
► And at the Whisky, it’s the Dickies and the Muffs.
