On the night their fifth album was released, L.A. quartet Dawes visited the cozy Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery to play for a crowd of friends, family and faithful. The album’s titled “We’re All Donna Die,” but there was nothing morbid about Friday’s outing. “These are some of our favorite nights as a band — we get to have all of our friends and loved ones here,” frontman Taylor Goldsmith said. “It really means a lot. Most of the time we’re just telling tour stories that are a lot more boring, but now we get to actually play some music.” They kicked off the show with three consecutive songs from the new album, which was produced by Blake Mills, then Mandy Moore (who, along with Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius and Will Oldham, guests on the album) joined for the fourth.
