The 14th annual Tarfest on Saturday proved a feast for the ears and eyes. Amid light installations and projections, L.A. rockers Dear Boy closed out the evening at the La Brea Tar Pits Park with a typically brilliant set including tunes from their recent EP, “Parts of a Flower.”
In between sets from Dublab DJs and dance performances, there was more: Midwesterners Durand Jones & the Indications made a strong impression with their sunset set of vintage soul; Brit Manor performed a captivating set of dance music (and showed people how); and New York transplants BRAEVES, now with L.A.’s Scott Goldbaum in the band, raced through a half-hour of guitar pop that prompted a race to the merch table.
