Desert Trip: The Buzz Bands LA Playlist

[Editor’s note: We asked Buzz, our Minister of Playlists and a (ahem) millennial, to make a Desert Trip playlist, limited to 30 songs. How did Buzz do, old-schoolers?]
It’s hard to believe, there is another reason to be back on the Empire Indio Polo grounds so soon after Coachella but Desert Trip provides six big reasons. The festival has a limited but an impressive lineup featuring renowned artists The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young**, Roger Waters and The Who. Those who were lucky enough to get tickets will be returning to Coachella soil, but with this event being dubbed as “Oldchella,” the number of painted faces, headdresses and glow sticks will most likely be minimal.
** Caveat: Neil Young’s best material isn’t found on Spotify because last year he pulled most of his music from streaming services. Had they been available, these five songs would have been included: “Ohio,” “Down by the River,” “Old Man,” “Heart of Gold” and “Rockin in the Free World.” And those were gut-wrenching to pick, since somebody we know really wants to hear “Cortez the Killer” in the desert.
Anyway, despite the nickname it’s been given by young’uns, Desert Trip has one hell of a lineup and we’ve got a Spotify playlist of hits to prove it – or at least get you pumped. Stream and enjoy.
Tickets are nearly sold-out, but 3-Day passes for Weekend 2 are still available.
Set times are below the playlist.
