Danny Nogueiras debuted his solo project No Win last year with an EP that crackled with Weezer’s geeky charm and Guided By Voices’ laconic smarts. Now, after a year of touring and gigs supporting the likes of Quarterbacks, FIDLAR, Warm Thoughts, No Parents, NANI and Plague Vendor, he has followed up that release with a new EP, “Sayonara Crumbums.” Worry not, fans of crunchy power-pop: He’s not bidding farewell. The titular goodbye references Pehrspace (here, we pause to genuflect), the DIY room, now succumbed to developers, which housed the studio where the onetime FIDLAR drummer and friends recorded “Sayonara Crumbums.” Joining Nogueiras on Pehrspace’s swan songs are current FIDLAR drummer Max Kuehn Joyce Manor’s Jeff Enzor, guitarist-bassist David Jerkovich and Matt Zuk (Benjamin Booker’s current touring guitarist). The songs, Nogueiras says, reflect “an overheard argument between the artist and his conscience” — and you know who wins those … Or do you? Nogueiras himself stars in Tyler Monsein’s video for the song “2 Real,” embodying every ounce of that self-flagellation. “Sayaonara Crumbums” is out now via Bandcamp.
