The Lemon Twigs

Today, 4AD/Remote Control release the debut album from the Lemon Twigs. The Long Island D’Addario brothers recorded “Do Hollywood” in Los Angeles with producer Jonathan Rado of Foxygen. At the ripe old age of 17 and 19, respectively, Michael and Brian display quite a bit of charm and that appealing sort of awkward swagger. Splitting singing and instrument duties, the duo have a definite penchant for the ’70s, both aesthetically and musically, all encased in an I-just-woke-up-like-this-in-satin-pants attitude. Within about five seconds of “As Long As We’re Together,” any number of predecessors come to mind, Beatles, Bowie, Nilsson, Rundgren, choose your favorite. In the video, directed by Autumn de Wilde, the guys ride around the desert in a crazy old tiny sports car and Michael shows off his high kick, which is something you’ll see a lot of when they perform live.
