Video: SWIMM, ‘Man’s Man’

SWIMM’s new video is a revelation on several levels: First, we did we not know “crumbing” was a thing (and is there a club that one can join?). Second, the L.A. duo of Chris Hess and Adam Wynn sound a lot funkier than they did on last year’s psych-rock tour de force, the “Beverly Hells” EP. But … but … but … back to the subversive, erotic, pastry-filled video for the new single “Man’s Man,” directed by AJ Mester. The guys are tied to chairs. Their appetites are not only whetted by a table full of sugary goodies before them, but by five tantalizing ladies. Mouth-watering capers ensue. The song skewers the notion of the alpha male — especially, the band told Impose (where the video premiered), “the over-objectification and hyper-sexualization of women on social media. If all you see all day is Photoshopped pictures of girls looking perfect then there is a part of your brain that is going to tell you, ‘Hey man! You deserve a girl that looks like that!’ It is pretty gross. This has become even more relevant obviously in the last two weeks of our exemplary political race. I don’t find any way of relating to the Trumps or Billy Bushes of the world that legitimately believe they are entitled to well… we know. Yuck yuck.”
But … but … but … croissants.
