Ever since she adopted the persona IAMEVE, singer-songwriter Tiff Randol has explored the outer reaches of conceptual electro-pop. And the artist’s new video for “Starman” — which premiered last week as part of the Flux Film Screenings at the Hammer Museum — takes those explorations to another level. The video is part of her sci-fi/fantasy tale titled “The Everything Nothing,” which, she says, revolves around “creation, fractured identity, and transcending physical form.” Directed by Thor Freudenthal, “Starman” finds two soulmates uniting in a multi-dimensional plane of existence. It features IAMEVE as herself and Keon Alexander (FX’s “Tyrant”) in the titular role, and it is out there — way out there. The behind-the-scenes star, though, might be the man responsible for the body-painting, Michael Rosner. The paint took nine hours to apply, followed by “17 hours of shooting and three hours of scrubbing, all in one verrrry long day,” Randol writes. “Starman”, co-produced with David Christophere of the Rabbit In The Moon, was released last week as a single.
