Rainbow Arabia

The new album from Rainbow Arabia, “L.A. Heartbreak” follows in the musical direction Tiffany and Danny Preston began pushing on their last album, “FM Sushi,” three years ago. They’ve shed the Middle Eastern meets tribal-tropical mash of their early days (revisit “The Basta,” “Kabukimono,” and “Boys And Diamonds” for that), sounding more like something you might hear at an 1980- themed after-hours bar in Tokyo where everything comes out of a glowing vending machine robot. Over the past few years, the Prestons have nourished their own record label, Time No Place, inspired by the multi-faceted Los Angeles electronic music scene. They had, in fact, worked on another album, but things were not going well, exacerbating problems within their romantic and musical partnership. They scrapped it, started over, and quickly wrote and recorded these nine songs that reflect where they are in life, dealing with mortality and changing relationships, capturing the music and feelings while they were fresh. The new album drops Nov. 11 on Time No Place.
