Orange County favorites Social Distortion will christen the opening of the new House of Blues Anaheim with two shows, Feb. 28 and March 1.
The venue moves from its previous location in Downtown Disney to the Anaheim GardenWalk, a massive outdoor mall (400 W. Disney Way) that is being rejevenated after struggling since it opened in 2008.
Besides Social D, the venue’s opening slate of shows includes Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Korn, Thrice, Billy Idol, the Growlers, Jason Isbell, Death Cab for Cutie, the Kills and the Pixies.
Not unlike O.C.’s Observatory, the HOB Anaheim will actually be two venues in one — the 44,000-square-foot space will include a 2,200-capacity main concert hall and the cozier Parish (400 capacity), along with the features for which other Houses of Blues are known: the semi-private Foundation Room and the restaurant/bar.
Tickets for the first batch of shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday here.

I wonder if the House of Blues folks still plan to find a new location in Los Angeles County to replace the one that closed on the Sunset Strip over a year ago. I have not heard a peep about that in over a year.
