Jhené Aiko, with her sweet weed-angel voice, delivered one of 2014’s most memorable R&B lyrics to hit the radio, when she appeared on Omarion’s song “Post To Be” and sang about how her suitor’s “gotta eat the booty like groceries.” The Slauson Hills-reared singer established herself as bold and sensual with a kinky sense of humor. It comes as no surprise that her new Fisticuffs-produced song “Maniac” is unabashedly dirty, has a mellow flow, and contains some creative turns of phrase about sexing it up that tickle the dirty, funny, bone. She’s so excited for sexy time that she’ll “pull up quick as an Uber” when he calls. But the best, naughty thing she repeats is in the pre-chorus, “Oh his dick is way too long, I think I can take it all …” Whoa, it’s getting hot in here, spicy! And, yet, romantic.
“Maniac” is a stand-alone single/art project released through Def Jam Recordings. Aiko collaborated with photographer Steven Taylor on a shibaru-inspired photo shoot, which is a Japanese bondage art form that’s intrigued her for quite some time. She’s currently at work on her next solo album as well as the debut for Twenty88, a duo with rapper Big Sean—who co-wrote “Maniac” with her and writer Detail.
