Singer Olivia May has found her orbit, and it is around the pop world. The Fresno native, who moved to L.A. in 2007 to pursue a career as a solo artist, has lent her pristine voice to the Americana duo David & Olivia and the the hip-hop collective ISLES, the latter endeavor yielding a 2015 EP and adventures on the Warped Tour. Her forthcoming single “Tonight” (out digitally on Jan. 13), though, finds her squarely in the spotlight, her bright vocals in full-throttle, love-conquers-all mode as, amid electronic beats and effects, the song builds to a euphoric chorus.

“I wrote ‘Tonight’ during a time of complete wonderful chaos,” says the singer, born Olivia May Tuck. “Finding my true love, living in my car, absolutely no stability in my life. But none of that mattered, because I knew I found the one who would be there for me through it all.” The song was co-written with three of her bandmates in ISLES, Adam Elzarou, AJK and Daniel Braunstein, and produced by Braunstein at his Woodland Hills studio. If it makes you feel “alive,” as Olivia May sings, know that there is more on the horizon.
