Video: Foxygen, ‘On Lankershim’

Foxygen marries casual lyric delivery and melodically nostalgic sensibilities with the grand sound of a 40-piece orchestra in the song “On Lankershim,” the third single from “Hang,” which comes out Jan. 20 on Jagjaguwar. For the video, the guys took a ride around Los Angeles and the Valley in an old ’66 Mustang, showing their neighborhood, the laundromat, the Hollywood sign, the video store, where they play video games and eat mashed potatoes, and their bathroom. “We love all those old big-budget videos about Hollywood, so we wanted to make our own version of that,” they say. Their version is definitely not big-budget, but it doesn’t take a lot of money to paint a loving image of home. “We filmed most of it and directed it ourselves, so it would be as close to how we see L.A. as possible.”
