“Is it worth it all to keep diving in heart first?” ask Bird Concerns over sandpapery guitars in their new single “Nobody Wants to Be My Baby.” Yes, it’s an ages-old question posed by anybody who’s made the journey from lovestruck to lovelorn, and the L.A. quartet (“surfers and birdwatchers,” they say) of Travis Meador, Marcus Buser, Cooper Wolken and Jake Sucher add an energetic, harmony-rich twist to the notion. “This song is about looking for love in all the wrong places,” Buser says. “It captures the hope, anxiety, and excitement that everyone experiences as a young person who starts to go on dates and wear their heart on their sleeves.” The single is from a forthcoming EP, their second, which follows up the 2016 full-length “’Til Morning Comes.” Have a dance alone, and if you sing the chorus enough, maybe lightning will strike.
