Stream: TeamMate, ‘Damage’

Like their electronic brethren GEMS, TeamMate are a duo who have continued their creative relationship after the romantic one ended. The pair — singer-drummer Dani Buncher and synth player-vocalist Scott Simons — emerged back in 2012, releasing “The Sequel” EP in 2013 and following that with a string of singles, a remix EP and a handful of collaborations. For better or worse, and in keeping with the synth-pop legions, the duo have added considerable bombast to their music since that first EP, as evidenced by the crushing choruses in their new material. Their full-length album “TeamMate” arrives this week via Rostrum Records, chronicling their narrative from a couple to creative duo to business partners. “Part of the healing process for the end of our romantic relationship ending involved us playing music together,” Simons says. “Still existing today as a partnership is our best achievement.” Come feel the sugar rush.
