Ears Wide Open: Moon Ensemble

Now for something totally trippy: Moon Ensemble are a Hacienda Heights quartet who treat the elements of psychedelia and dance music — outer-space synths and effects, propulsive beats, agile arpeggios — like Play-Doh. The band (Brandon Harb, Andrew Fructuoso, Michael Anthony Garcia and Nikolas Bobluk) released their self-titled EP last August and this month followed it up with the single “Future Colours,” which unfolds like a a liquid light show on high speed. The song is just out via Cupadella Records, which released the EP and its shape-shifting single “San Benito.” Fans of L.A. bands such as Fever the Ghost and James Supercave might want to come along for the ride.
