Smiles and good memories abounded Friday night at the Echo where Bay Area indie-rockers Creeper Lagoon, their original lineup back together, played their first Los Angeles show in 16 years.

Many of those fans were likely at that last show (at the old Knitting Factory), and they welcomed the quartet — who had gotten back together to celebrated the 25th anniversary of San Francisco’s Noise Pop festival — warmly, hiccups and all. The band (Sharky Laguana, Ian Sefchick, Dave Kostiner and Dan Carr) played five songs apiece from the full-lengths “I Become Small & Go” (1998) and “Take Back the Universe and Give Me Yesterday” (2001). A broken guitar string led to Sefchick playing “Drop Your Head” solo while Laguana fixed his guitar.

And Creeper Lagoon played three covers: Guided By Voices’ “Motor Away” (during which the band jammed, with Sefchick commenting after “we had to get everything out of all these pedals”); the National’s “Blood Buzz Ohio;” and the Pixies’ “Where is My Mind?”

Two Sheds preceded the headliners, and the Knitts, performing on the day their debut full-length “Retreat” was released, opened the night.
